The rich, warm singing tones of the cello are special and it is often described as the instrument which sounds most like the human voice. The cello can be both powerful and deeply expressive, making it a favourite among many young musicians. From its lowest register through to the sound of its highest string it can seem to be several different instruments. Who does not come to love the cello suites of Bach!

Recommended starting age: 5-7+.
