Learning the theory of music helps students to accelerate their progress on any instrument. It improves sight-reading and musical understanding as well as confidence. It provides a strong foundation for advanced musical study. In the taking of some Graded exams, the study of musical theory on a basic level is a necessary requirement. The study of music theory is best approached via a set syllabus. The teacher will guide the student comfortably through the syllabus and prepare each student for the required exam.

Recommended starting age: 5-7+.
